Without being at all specific we got permission from Bob to , maybe, kinda, sorta use one of his works. As it was a gala, we chose a piece of his entitled Black Tie. We blocked off the entrance to the gallery with a 10 foot by 42 foot wall. We took all of the individual elements Bob used in that piece , separated them into what we envisioned were the individual shapes and then "exploded" the across the 42 foot wall. Bob was equal measures tickled and delighted.
Once one walks through the entrance people enter an entirely white room. The blank canvas. Even the drinks were all clear and the three different amuse bouches were white. Guests were encouraged to dress in the colour of their tickets. We had mixed results with that, but I did wear an orange suit jacket, orange tie and orange shoe laces.
At regular intervals during cocktail hour gallery staff would come through holding up a paint can. Match your ticket colour to the can and go on an adventure. In my case, that was a whiskey tasting with an award winning micro distillery.
The blank canvas seen from above.
Of the 12 or so pieces of Bob's work the gallery hung, this could be regarded as the feature piece and was directly at the top of the last stairwell.
The next morning, takedown at 7:00 AM was much less colourful.

As it does mine, thanks Hank.
The hospital's loss is the gallery's gain, magnificent job as always.
I'm with Brad in choosing the classic night /day Starliner this week.
