There are actually two quartz clocks on the back. One runs the large sweep seconds hand, which runs smoothly like a spring drive. The other runs the small seconds at 6, and it ticks like typical quartz. I know they’ll never stay synchronized, which would bug the crap out of me, so I pulled the battery out of the small seconds one at zero.

P.S. It looks black, but it’s actually a nice shade of dark blue.
This is in my Amazon history, I'm not sure if I got it here or I posted it. Either way, nice looking clock. I'd love that for my gym.

Recycled pics, wearing this Wempe. I have a custom canvas strap being made, almost 4 weeks since I ordered, hoping it arrives soon.

Thanks Wayne, looking forward to seeing the new Wempe on canvas when it arrives.

Did you let it run long enough to see how long it would take to be out? An hour? A month?

Nah. I love the smooth sweep of the big seconds hand, so I’m leaving it as is, and pretending the small seconds is actually a chronograph.
