Me neither, and not just because it’s a departure from the norm.

This departure from the norm is excellent.

That’s pretty much what I said. Objectively, it’s a really well made watch and subjectively, I really like the shade of rose gold Rolex uses. And it’s a very neat movement, interesting to me mechanically.

But…it’s so ugly. The dial is weirdly really busy and crowded, but still not interesting to look at. This is one of those where I think Rolex tried very hard to be bold and unconventional—while still sticking to their conventions, like the date at 3 o’clock with a magnifier. The complication should be the focus of the dial’s design, but that giant growth on the side of the dial overshadows and crowds it. It would have been a much better looking and more well balanced watch had they done a 6 o’clock date with no cyclops, integrated either below or inside of the subdial. I don’t know how the mechanism works, so I don’t know if that would have been possible, but the way it is now, the only way I’d wear one is if it were given to me as a gift by someone whose feelings I didn’t want to hurt.

Of course, when I talked to him, I was much softer.

This is my thought for the most part. Are they my style? Nope, light years away. Are they impressive engineering from a top shelf brand? Definitely. Would I be impressed with any of my friends being able to afford one? For sure

As much appreciation as I have for square/rectangle watches, it feels as though this would be a grail for me.

It just does not look well sorted to me. Maybe some actual wrist pics will make it look better

Completely agree. Have owned multiple Fortis, still have a Flieger. They make a quality watch. Would really like to try this one on

    Chimes in tritones.

The shop assistants might have trouble explaining that. “It’s very sophisticated with the intention of making it sound wrong.”

It would give them a great Halloween or heavy metal vibe, though, don't you think?
Too many watches, not enough wrists.
