came across old photo of myself circa mid 70's wih my Ford Lotus Cortina prob a 68' would have been a 2ltr overhead cam from memory , black webasto roof with sunroof , real speedster in those days , this one had black Lotus badges ! terraced houses of a Manchester street behind and ! i'm hoping that maybe one or two of you might find a similar memory amongst your scrapbboks .photos in those days were very rare really , few people carried or perhaps even afford a camera
Wish i had photos of all the cars -even just the engine from this would be worth a small fortune today !

I never took a photo of my Vauxhall Viva. Or Vauxhall Vivas - I was one of the few to have two of them.

My first was honey starburst. Spectacular. The second was a kind of avocado green with a less memorable name.

A Fiat 128. I think it was that colour too. My driving instructor was Peter Speed (Sqn Ldr Rtd), and he always used the Squadron Leader bit. He had an ill-fitting toupee and a facial twitch. Occasionally, we went to a pub in the middle of the lesson. Once, standing at the bar, he took a couple of tablets, washed down with beer. I memorised the name of the tablet on the box and looked it up later. It was Haloperidol, a major tranquiliser used in the treatment of schizophrenia and the manic phase of manic-depression. His twitch was one of the side-effects.

Those driving lessons could be quite memorable.
