I’m done with the hacking and whacking and clearing of brush; for now. My shoulders hurt and I need beer.

I cooked birthday dinner last night - skirt steak with porcini truffle demi-glaze, smashed baby potatoes, roasted corn with peas & carrots, citrus salad, garden fruit puff pastries. Our friends (he, retired from the wine trade) typically bring insanely great wines, and last night was no exception. I provided the 2007 Montebello and 2013 Sauterne, and they provided a 2000 Mouton Rothschild (!!), Déthune Champagne, Burgess Howell Mountain and a Spanish Utiel-Requena. Amazing!

I think our friends are the ones with the specialization in that regard. By the way, I looked up that 2000 Mouton, and if he were to sell it for going rate right now, it would cost about the same as that Tudor BB-36 that I posted in Random Watch... Gulp.
