My Dad had a yellow one when I was in college. Agree it is a stunning car though now the tires look like they are tall enough for a truck. He also had a Fiat Dino Spider that was the same basic chassis, wheels, some of the interior and engine, but a proper convertible. His was in Ferrari red, but I used the yellow pictures to show the proper yellow color for the Ferrari. Most know what Ferrari Red looks like. I had a Ducatti 900SS Ultralite in the same yellow. For a time there all Ducati were painted on the Ferrari paint line so they only came in Ferrari colors back in the 90's.

Just a note the Ferarri Dino's were made between 1967 and 1969 and the Fiat Dino Spider was from 1967 to 1974. So it could not be a 1960. They built the Fiat so they could meet the number produced requirements for the car and engine for racing. I think he bough both in the early 80's for less that $10,000. I wish I could have bought one when he sold them (Preferably the Ferrari), but I was paying my own way through college. The fall Carlisle Auto show is where my dad bought both Dino's. Fiat first one in the fall of 1980 and then Ferrari the next year. Mecum now lists the value at $880,000 for the Ferrari and about $60K for the Fiat. His were both perfect and original. They were actually fairly easy to work on since they were very simple and I had a lot of experience with Weber Carbs.

Fun fact, both Dino did not have a Ferrari logo anywhere on them. They only had Dino logos even on the valve covers as tribute to his son.

I would take one with or without covers, but I don't plan on owning one in this lifetime. For me, just happy there are people out there willing to maintain them for me to look at.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Really? I think it looks cleaner without them! And it’s one of the few Ferraris where red actually looks good and not like a cliche.

The one in the post above sold for $630K. Joke’s on him, I had the same one in 1:18 growing up and it was only like 20 bucks.

    Ooh, that is lovely too!

For the whole Dino story, I have a great video on it, I need to dig it up.

It really shines in so many colors. The light blue is probably my favorite, but I’ve been on a kick of vintage cars in light blue recently. You should look at my Forza garage right now. This darker blue is also gorgeous.

EDIT: Here is the video. It’s 20 minutes, but it’s well worth the watch.

I don’t know if it’s obvious yet, but the Dino is one of my favorite cars ever made.

It’s funny how they are viewed now. Back in the 80’s they would not recognize them as true Ferrari. Now apparently they are the bees knees. I guess back then Ferrari had flat 8 and 12’s. Sixes were not cool. Now sixes are the future. For me it is a coin toss as to my favorite between these and the original Daytona.

Yeah, there was definitely a different perception around them in the past. That never mattered to me; when I first saw that Maisto model on the shelves at Toys R Us, I was smitten. I remember going crazy when I saw Tony Curtis as Danny Wilde driving one on The Persuaders when I was a little older because I’d never seen one in video before. It was so cool.

I love the original Daytona too, another beauty. But for me, there’s no contest between the two. It’s funny, the car that made me love the Daytona was actually a Corvette-based replica. I think we all know which one I’m talking about.
