    What are you drinking?

Touring the city by bike in +29C is hot stuff, so had to stop for a pint of Gallia at Canal Saint-Martin.

Barge du Canal IPA at Paname Brewing Company tap room patio. Nice place for lunch.

The brewhouse I visited has a bar at Charles de Gaulle, which is nice.

Too much champagne at brunch. We took a vaparetto back to our apartment and it did not feel like I was on a boat. I was already rocking side to side. Lovely view of Venice from the terrace atop the hotel.

Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

I refuse to be embarrassed. Finishing a $5.50 bottle of Trader Joe’s embarrassingly named & labeled Honey Moon Viognier. It’s actually decent - closer to a $12 bottle - but I think it needs food. On its own it’s a pretty nice & fairly smart Chardonnay that overcompensates for its common backstory. I think insecurity is in its bones and can’t easily be fixed, but the right partner will protect this wine from the more (and more or less minor) niggling aspects of its personality.

Usually I’m dopplebock dunkles & pastry stouts, but I started experimenting with supermarket Zinfandel’s and now I’m bottom shelf Trader Joe’s.

What would be the food choice to accompany? You should try it!

Hello there (I recognize some of these old names)!

Maybe grilled & (extra) charred jerk chicken. The charring seems important as I roll the imaginary tastes in around in my head. I’d serve with non-sweet sticky rice seasoned only by the juices, spices and burnt bits of the chicken piled on top. I’ll eat with my hands to make things as sloppy as possible.

Or, the second best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to makes a pumpkin curry for the (US) Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays that’s the most interesting curry I’ve tasted.

The hope is some spice, heat, and mess will defeat the ingrained unruliness of this product.
