I've been wanting to get a rubber strap for my Planet Ocean for something different for the summer vs a bulky NATO. I've tried an ISOfrane on my Seiko (thanks to Robert) and I felt it was too stiff and thick, though I like the way they look. Then last week I found plenty of "FKM" synthetic rubber straps and for some reason started reading about the fact they are made with PFAS (forever chemicals). Whether that's really an issue or not, was enough for me to steer clear. I looked at Hirsch rubber, but those are quite expensive... so then I settled on this $20 silicone strap from Barton. I know silicone has its disadvantages to rubber, or even synthetic rubber, but I'm comfortable with the tradeoffs.

I really wanted the all black, but we are heading out of town in a couple days for the 4th and I wanted to wear the new strap. For some reason the black/orange combo was available for overnight shipping with Amazon Prime, but the all black wouldn't arrive until July 9th or so.

I've been wearing it today, I quite like the feel, it's thin, flexible, and comfortable. However, I don't like the orange. I thought the orange was a good idea because there is a tiny orange accent on the watch (tip of the seconds hand), but in hindsight, I feel like the orange is going to clash too much with whatever I'm wearing. What a dumb choice. Oh well. I've made the decision.

The orange really reflects of the case of the watch bringing out more orange than I care for...

One cool feature, the last strap keeper has a notch in it to lock into the big hole on the end of the strap to keep it in place. Also the Barton has the quick release spring bars and ships with 2 different lengths of the longer side of the strap, so there's a fit for most wrists. Not a bad silicone strap for $20ish.
