Well todays portable sundial is my Apple Watch…

“But Kev” I hear you say…”that’s not really an affordable watch”…..
Well….my phone provider offered me a deal I couldn’t refuse at only £5/month including phone connection

I’ve had it about 6 months and I have to say…it’s not worth it.
After the novelty wore off I find it annoyingly small and it doesn’t really show me the info I want to see easily.
Was it worth it? Well if I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t have bothered.
It is handy for health info…but honestly I have a cheap digital that measures steps/heart rate etc etc which is way funkier looking (I’ll show you that tomorrow )

Conclusion I get far more enjoyment from having a nice proper watch on my wrist
Be that a nice mechanical or a funky digital.
I did try wearing the apple in the wrong wrist so I could wear something else but it just felt weird

As promised here’s my other “health” watch

It’s an Amazfit Neo and is actually really really good and offers exceptional value for money (I got mine for £25)
Amazfit do quite a range of various smart watches, this is the low end of the scale but it works so well you wouldn’t really want anything else.

Functionality wise it works in conjunction with a phone app called Zepp
The watch obviously tells time and will record various activities (walking, running, cycling etc) if you ask it to.
It will record steps on a daily basis and distance walked which can be easily scrolled on the watch outside temp, alarm, stopwatch, dual time, estimated calories used and current heart rate are all shown on the watch and can be viewed in more detail via the app.
It will alert you if your phones ringing or you get a message, but doesn’t answer or reply.

It’s got Casio vibes, and the information available is displayed clearly with a good clear large font (perfect for those of us whose eyesight isn’t what it once was)

Oh and charge lasts a week so much better than the less than 24hrs my Apple Watch gets.

Suffice to say I really like it
