ok now why : ??
so was working on a joblot a while back end of last week maybe week before their was two mtd 1079 one was working fine but case was not great other better case not working got it going but date /day was shot so swap out the case and flog the parts one ..so had one working one in fair shape .
so week or so late it is now ticking in the same spot. change the battery ran for under a minute and is doing it again I put it on my machine and ran the hands round to see if dirt or anything was stopping it it ran fine .. try three diff battery's from three diff sellers . and the Renate it did nothing but tick in place ...
so what wrong do you think as getting ready to sell it as parts like the other one shame as it's got a really cool blue glow light to it

Seems to me the movement is struck by something.
Not much you can do without swapping the whole movement.
1. never trust cloud services
2. always keep control of your data

yeah it's weird as ran fine then that double tick norm means new battery time and done that . thought maybe worn out cog but would show when I put it on my mircotester ran it both forwards and backwards and ran smooth in both ways with no jumping (found jumping hand mean worn broke teeth on the cogs )
so yeah can't be bothered to swap out movement (date/dates are a mare on hand alignment) so guess parts it is mean don't really owe me owt just shame as they ant as many of these around as their once was

you know me don't like to give up on things I think it's either being shorted out or the battery's losing contact as if holding the battery in place it works fine it seems

Savagely Average
The way it protrudes out, it may be for grounding purposes. Rubber ring would make sense then also

it's possible as then it would contact the back cover in three places the two on the ring and the one by the battery cover could make a circuit maybe ..
have know of casio that need the back on to work can't think which models but sure have had that in the past .. if I had the back cover it might shiny a light on to that but came in a tat lot I only keep it as it was a 1980's SO-11 so not that common model . the front has damage to the glass on the edges in several places but that seem to be the norm from what I saw .
