Yeah, I got that... just a quip. I removed the one about wiring issues and bursting into flames.
As far as I'm concerned it's just No.2 of the teething troubles. Besides: It's rained pretty much every day for a fortnight here, so I'm not too upset about not getting to take her out.

We had six of the Ford era Jaguars and they we're far more reliable than the Mercedes and one of the three Audi I had. Only the 2002 XK that we bought when it was 15 years old needed to be gone through systematically like any older car. Rubber hoses and fluids go bad over time even with low miles in any car. The Mercedes bought new ate its transmission at 28K along with most of the rear suspension. All under warranty, but still over 24K repair.
Cheers,
Michael

I'm aware that in reality some bmws are super reliable (b58 engine) and other aren't (any of their v8s). I'm pretty sure that British and Italian cars are, in general, very unreliable compared to Japanese of course, but also American, probably even french.
Did that address your point?! I'm not sure if Ford era jags are American or British.

Kind of felt wrong for the car to be just sat in the garage waiting for parts, so I took the window of opportunity this afternoon (it stopped raining for a few hours) to fetch her out and run the engine for while. Whilst stooped checking tyre pressures (like you do) I got this view, which I thought was kinda cool:
