Driving in Bristol was always a chore, but now (since the introduction of those things) it's a highly stressful ordeal; and the same applies if you're cycling or a pedestrian:
They come at you from all angles and go where they want with no regard for anyone else nor the rules of the road. Traffic lights don't apply to them. Others' safety is not even a consideration from what I've seen.
They're supposed to keep to the roads and adhere to the Highway Code - They don't.
They're not supposed to use footpaths - They do.
They're not supposed to use cycle lanes - They do.
They're not supposed to use the pedestrianized areas of the town centre - They do.
I'm sure there are some that play by the rules, but I've seen little to no evidence of it.

Same as Michael says above - They're just dropped and abandoned where they stop. I can't count the times I had to (when I was commuting by bike) leave the cycle lane to get around abandoned scooters.

    Rant over.
So it is not just me. I see them being banned in many cities in the USalong with several other similar rental scooter services. It seems one or two have their act together and have more of a rental car model with specified areas to drop off.
    Cheers,

    Michael

Those I've used are supposed to drop in specific locations. Considering these things cost a grand and you're meant to leave your credit card and driving licence with the rental agency (digitally) I don't know why people mistreat them so. Guessing the fines aren't enforced or people us throwaway credit cards.

These appeared to be App based. You log in, select a use interval which you appear to be able to buy in bulk and prepay then scan in the QR code from the scooter. Once done the scooter switches on. It tracks your usage and removes time from your account.
    Cheers,

    Michael

The daughter of a close family friend, a promising young reporter, was killed riding one of those types of scooters. She wasn’t the driver, apparently the scooter driver had to swerve to avoid a car that didn’t see them and they crashed, she hit her head, and there was nothing they could do. Scooters may not be motorcycles, but they can be just as dangerous and shouldn’t be in the hands of people who don’t know how to use them properly. She was only 25 or 26, a sweet, smart girl.

I’m not a fan of them either.

Yeah in my experience they all do that.

Also, scooters are absolutely nowhere near as dangerous as motorcycles FYI. My bike does 100mph in 1st ,thenvedy quickly ad easily goes to 160

Note I didn't say 186 which is the top speed of most bikes, mine included, can confirm.

I said “can be”. Of course bikes can go much, much faster, but scooters and bikes have the same vulnerabilities in low speed city driving situations, namely being harder to see, harder to hear, and lacking any sort of protection when an absent-minded SUV driver accidentally runs over them. In these rent-a-scooter situations, the scooter can be even worse, since unlike motorcycle riders, they don’t have the experience or training to know to look out for drivers who are not paying attention to or looking for bike/scooter riders.

God damn people are annoying. There are 11 manual f430s on autotrader. Only 1 is a manual, the rest are autos.

Thought I'd celebrate my new mortgage uplift with a new car but not with a manual f430 it seems

Yeah, I really, really, really hate that so many car sellers think putting ACTs in the manual category is right. It’s an automatic. Don’t care what the mechanism is.
