I put another 180 'ish miles on the clock today, and I'm not ashamed to say that I frightened myself a couple of times ... and I've not even tried 'sport' mode yet.
The man said I could start to push the revs up after the first 500 miles at <4k rpm, and that's what I've been doing (gradually). There were a couple of corners that I went into faster than I'd normally be comfortable with and thought I might ditch it, but the car 'stuck' beautifully with no drama. I reckon my bottle will go well before the car lets go.

    Things I've learnt today:
It doesn't like low speeds and/or low revs loading, gear selection is paramount.
I need more practice with gear shifting at the right time.
The red line increases as the engine warms up. Starts off at 4½k from cold then increases to 6½k once up to normal operating temp. A clever touch.
The wipers increase speed as you go faster.
The cup holders are a bit of a joke - Anything above the height of the recess... you'll hit your elbow against when you reach for the gear stick (shifter).
The headlights are fabulous - like a search-light when on full beam.
It doesn't matter what gear you're in, above 2500 rpm, it will just GO when you put your foot down; and keep 'going'. So far I've only just tipped 5k rpm, but that's more than enough, for me, for now,
... and lastly - it needs a wash, it's filthy.

I'm still 'in my infancy' learning the car and not even close to realizing its full potential; my limits may well be reached before the car's are, but I'm still grinning from ear to ear.
I'm frighten myself every time. Be careful in those corners. The general rule is to never brake in the corner, but before, and then accelerate through. If you are going fast enough and suddenly brake through a corner, it could be disastrous. Forgive me if you already know this. Also the 2 stage rev limiter must be a Lotus thing due to the cams. Even after it's warmed up, I always give myself another 10 minutes for good measure. Then, I punish it for making me wait.

At least on my Elise, when it was still stock, the engine computer would limit the redline somewhat until the car was fully warm. After that, you could go full on. You could even go to 8000 a couple of times, then it would go and limit you to 7400.

Yes, that's due to the VVTL. I think if I recall, the car's computer won't let you get into the 2nd cam until the oil temps are up. But some say that even when the temp is reached there's still in delay in the lines, so give 5 -10 more minute before you crank on it.

According to the previous owner of my car, the tuning allows for 10K rpms bursts (I'm not even sure how), but the car redlines at 8500 consistently. Maybe the 10K can be on the downshift as a fail safe for a whoopsie? There's been a lot done to it for performance though... ported head, Ferrea valves, stronger pistons, titanium valve springs and locks, bigger injectors, etc... in addition to the exhaust and supercharger. It's been dialed back since, but at one point it had 320 hp to the rear wheels with a custom race controller and fuel mapping. The car is insane.

Well, pretty sure that the stock CPU wouldn’t allow 10k, that’s got to be a custom CPU tune. Mine was tweaked, but only to allow the second cam to light up at 4k, didn’t affect redline.

I forgot the brand controller it used to have, it was a pretty serious and expensive one (I still have parts to it connected for a fuel ratio sensor) but the controller was uninstalled (and sold) by the previous owner and tuned back a bit with with a Koldfire tune. It's plenty for me.

Yes, I learned that one the hard way a long time ago.... Went into Tower Corner at Castle Combe too fast, panicked, and (instinctively) dabbed the brake.... Car swapped ends and bounced off the tyre wall. A couple of creased panels and a broken exhaust, plus a couple of bruised ribs. No serious damage to car nor driver, and both lived to 'fight another day'. Slow in - Fast out, is what I was taught ..... AFTER the event. Live and learn.

This one I had to learn from the offset with my first car, all cast iron block & cylinder head; but boy did I give it some stick once it had warmed up.

Some may know here I'm a huge fan of manual transmission (like Raza) but damn this is quite a car. I really like the sound, and I generally don't care for the sound of Porsches. Also note, the Matt's wearing an Exp II.
