Sorry forgot to post this a few weeks ago. Here is a fully loaded Red Mist Z06 Corvette including the carbon fiber wheels and every possible option. This was the one that was temporally mine until Wade changed his mind. They only built 23 in 2022 and this is number 23. We still don't know who Wade knows to get one of these since almost no dealers got one. Lunch took about four hours that day to take turns riding and driving.

I haven't driven one but a friend in Sweden has been hitting all the EVs in that $50k-100k USD range. He really likes the EV6 GT-line but hasn't driven the EV6 GT yet.

The law of unintended consequences has reared its ugly head here with EVs. Tons of people with no driving skills suddenly possess cars that can go from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds, and have absolutely no idea how to drive in a curve, brake properly, not accelerate too fast for conditions, etc. It's a recipe for disaster, like giving a hand grenade to a five year old.

Yeah, when my brother was looking for a new car, I was very careful to give him something that was fast, but not too fast, and something that wouldn’t be tricky, like a high powered RWD car. And he’s what I’d consider a good driver; far better than the general public. Now any idiot with Tesla money can press a button and hit 60 is 2.8 seconds and they have no clue what they’re doing.

Well he is a faternity brother to one of our lunch group, a very nice guy and his family owned like half the orange groves in Florida at one time. Not really certain what he actually does. He had an R level Cobra GT350 before this that was all tricked out. I would have bought that from him when he stayed with the Zo6. He is in the black and white checkered shirt in the second photo by the left corner of the wing. I think this weekend we are going to the track for a few laps around Sebring. First for me.

BTW the guy in the blue hat is a five time SCCA class champion and a former Panoz driver. We have a pretty interesting group at our Friday lunch GTG.

If this is what I think it is, it is supposedly faster than both the top Porsche Taycan or the Audi alternative by .2 seconds. More in the 2.4 range. That is a pretty serious weapon. It apparently handles well also, but it's still an EV. Even with it's top charging capability the chances of finding a charger that can do that is minimal here. Can't see sitting around for over an hour if you can get on a charger. Build pug-ins and I'll be far more interested. E-Vette might be cool.

This then goes back to Raza's point. The cell phone obsessed public is not ready for a 2.4 second $60K car. Build range not speed. EV will make cars unfun if they are so fast that you can't trust other drivers even more than now. Look at the stats for Hellcats wrecked on the way home from picking it up at the dealer. We don't needs roads full of 3 second cars without some serious driver upgrades.

The other big question is if tires can only offer so much adhesion, and others even Toyota can build exceptional handeling so what does a Ferrari or Aston Martin offer in an EV world that makes them of value. Chrome or carbon fiber motor case? Saying was "Speed cost money so how fast do you want to go". If general cars can go this fast, and tires and other parts can't go any faster then what makes a car cost more.
