Its not a convertible though, and I do like back seats and a usable boot. Not sure it's worth 2.5x my car. And it's not that quick. I know I'm sure it handles beautifully (I must try hydraulic steering), but most of my driving is on boring roads so I can't really appreciate dynamics. If it's a nice sunny day I'll ride my bike...

Irrelevant anyway - they're on a 2 year waitlist, and I can't afford one right now.
Not that quick? What constitutes as quick these days. Anything under 4 is quite fast in my book.

One reviewer launched the manual in like 5.3 seconds. It's rated at 4.5 I think which is decent, but mine does that too so yeah.

The 4 pot amg auto will be quicker to 60 funnily.

Oi... I thought I read 0-60 in 3.6 for the v6, apparently I am wrong... must be wishful thinking. I think my supercharged Elise is pulling lower than 4, but I haven't tested it. Original owner spent $50K on engine mods... so it better be fast

The 4 cyl Emira will be dual clutch(only) and probably lighter, would be my guess for it being quicker. I'd still take the 6 for manual shifting.

Same. Who cares if the AMG engine is faster or not, the V6 manual will be a better driving experience.

Would be funny getting beaten off the line though...

Not really. The AMG engine driver will spend half an hour trying to get launch control going and I’ll be heading off, having a great time and not caring what some magazine racers say about a few tenths of a second.

    Ha! Touché.

Launch control is so crap. I've used it on my bike exactly 3 times. Manual bike too...

There's much more to 0-60 times driving a Lotus... I can't speak for the Emira, but Lotus in general seem to be tops for a visceral driving experience, and superb handling. If one can be modified for some extra quickness, all the better (if you're into that).

This car is 16 years old and still looks cool and exotic (in my opinion, anyway):

I know there is. But I don't drive on bendy roads enough to offset a lower power car with better driving dynamics against mine.

Your car is a pig but should have nice driving dynamics. BMW, driving the proper wheels, manual trans.

My E93 is the same, it's a porker, but drives great. And that V8 singing at 8000+rpm with the top down is glorious.
