Thread: I never really wanted a Christopher Ward watch before, now I do - new Tridents

  1. #31
I'm surprised we haven't seen more of the C65 Trident Classics around since its release. The changes in the new C60 follow that watch's design: the baton markers, the 3 o'clock date

    Couple of side shots.

    Regular 38mm, 13.3mm thick

    42mm in-house COSC version, 15.5mm thick

    Date window placement

2824 in 38mm: kinda where you want it

2824 in 42mm: not quite where you want it

In house movement: bang on where you want it

Looked into the Trident Classic myself, had everything I was looking for (casual/dressy, all satinised/brushed finish and only 10mm thick) but at 42mm and lug length of almost 52mm with a thin bezel it would wear far too large. I suspect thats why it gets looked over fairly often.

The 38mm and 42mm sizes tend to miss out my favourite size of 40mm, its quite annoying

On March 1st you'll get a chance to see it for yourself
I'll have to polish it up specially when I bring it. It's the Diver Date model, and has been discontinued. It's replacement, the Aquis doesn't do it for me, perhaps due to the crown guards or something. I'll probably still end up getting one as I love this brand.

They were smart to make a movement that is significantly larger then the 2824. I guess there will be quite a demand for it by other smaller manufacturers.

Maybe if / once they get round to doing a 38mm version we'll see more of them. I really expected them to have plugged a gap in the market with this one, hence my surprise. Maybe when a forum type wants a 42mm watch they want something less discretely styled?

I'm so glad I picked up the older C60 during the most recent clearance sale. There is no way I'll be buying anything at the process they want now.

The main problem I have with Christopher Ward is the hands on the divers look 'classic' but the faces, especially the 500m ones, look modern and I don't think they match. I would much prefer some plain TAG Aquaracer style hands, or maybe even Omega arrows.
