A rater epic wine dinner last night, with friends who used to work in wine sales. I made a paella and puff pastries with porcini, caramelized onions and blue cheese, other nibbles... and these wines. (Luckily for the four of us, three of these bottles are still half-full.)

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Love it. Where do you get English beer in Finland? No good Finnish ales?

Every grocery store has at least some imported beers, and supermarkets have quite large selections.

Plenty of excellent local beers, but not very many good bitters or red ales. Micro breweries are popping up in multitudes, but I don't have the patience to try them out. Nowadays I'm going for old tried and tested brands, then you know what you get. IPA has been a big thing for quite some time, but I'm fed up with it. At the moment prefer softer less hoppy ones.

    This is another favourite: https://laitilan.com/en/tuote/kukko-red-ale/

Blue Hawaiian: Malibu, Blue Curacao, and pineapple juice. Drank no small amount of these in Aruba.

    What are you drinking?

It perfectly matched my vibe for that week. The drink understood me and what I needed just then. All we did was lay around on the beach and read while watching the waves. We went nowhere and did nothing. It was glorious.

Celebrating with a slice of single barrel Auchentoshan. Distilled in 1999, self bottled at distillery in 2013, bottle opened in 2019, still some left.

    Sent from Maxwell Smart’s shoe.
