Rado: Model/ Caliber/ Data Thread

I'm starting this threat in attempt to consolidate the data in one place and hopefully with the help of the members collect lots more. I'm adding the spreadsheets we already have to start with. Please post as much information as you can (model, ref#, rado cal, mvt cal, date code, case number, comments) and we'll eventually use it to create a spreadsheet or add it to an existing one.

This page from Wristwatch News Volume 2, Issue 3, has lots of Vintage reference number data, it was found via a post from pratama, some detective work by Scott and a little digging by me (very little really).





Here is a table of known 3 digit prefixes i.e 123.XXXX.X, as we know, in an 8 digit ref#, it's these first 3 digits that are related to the movement caliber. We know some of these, I think Henry and Scott have a reasonable knowledge base and will be able to fill some of the blanks. All members can simply reply to the thread and post the data: i.e. 636 = ETA 2836.

Sorry Tim, I think I screwed up the date entries a bit when I punched in the months. Didn't see the cells were set up as date, and locale settings screwed things up a bit with May and October.

I think the most interesting thing, which had not occurred to me, is that the 587 code that appears on some Diamaster/ Diastar 10s means that Rado started using the 8 digit reference codes no later than 1972, not 1973 as we generally believed.

Speaking of date codes, I also have the mystery Diastar 18 magic with the non-theory-compliant three-digit code 700. Any ideas?

Elaborating a bit on this, it is generally weird. The watch in question has an ETA 2789 movement, but it also reads Rado caliber 2798-1. Further, the rotor is marked 10378 for some reason that eludes me.
