There's one thing owning a cart that might need repairs. It's another modding something knowing full well it's a weak point and may brick it!

I raised the rev limit 1000rpm and sprayed a 170 shot of nitrous on a stock V8. I'm not sure our risk assessment skills are the same

How did you have the spray setup? WOT button under the accelerator? I’ve thought about it, but I think I have enough with the stage 1 setup. And I got pulled over last week, so there’s that....

The stock engine in my '96 Firebird. 20+ years ago we had to do a lot to run a 10 second 1/4 mile.

Master arming switch, RPM window switch (3000-6500rpm), WOT switch on the throttle body. There are newer triggers for the throttle that tie into the TPS signal since most are drive by wire now.

I don't know how big a shot you want, but you'll likely need to pull some ignition timing when you're spraying. 2 degrees per 50hp is a good start. The RPM window switch keeps you from spraying too low and blowing up your intake or too high and hitting the rev limiter, which is usually a fuel cutoff and that will melt your pistons. Might need a step colder spark plugs, too.

For your turbo car you'd be better off just adding boost and supporting mods. To do nitrous right it's a pretty involved setup.

It was more of a curiosity question. My next add is going to be an inter cooler and charge pipes.

Been tweaking the ECU and getting all of the goodies that they make you pay extra for.

The cop was cool, and I only got a warning. Was sneaky in a pickup and I completely missed him.

At what power level do you start breaking things?

I’m not sure about the IMS problem, which is why I’d steer clear. I’ve read a bit saying the issue has been overblown, others seem to say it’s catastrophic. I don’t know enough to say who is right.

I think it's like rod bearings on the BMW S65 and S85 engines - it's a known failure point but it's not a large percentage of engines that are affected.
