    New lotus Emira maybe.
I’d want an Emira if they come out with an open top model. I waited years for an open top Evora and it never happened. Since the Emira is based on the same platform, the odds aren’t great.

    Why not keep your M4?

If I owned the M4, I'd keep the M4. If you've got a wad of cash burning a hole in your pocket, reflash the M4. More power is just a program away.

    If I didn't already own the M4, I'd search for a 997.2 or a 991 Porsche 911.

I have a wad of house deposit cash that I absolutely shouldn't spend, nothing burning a hole per se. There's a chance with a flash that it'll break the crank hub and brick the car. And it'll void my remaining warranty, that has so far been very handy. Maybe in 6 months, though I still don't fancy a £30k brick.

Ferrari is also dead to me for that reason. Well, also that so many of them are so ugly now.

A few posts up you were pretty determined to buy a Ferrari. If modding an M4 scares you, I have some bad news for you.

997.2 is a great choice. They look great and have a reputation of being quite reliable. Not to mention the fact that it’s a Porsche, so it does everything that a Ferrari does, but better and with less flash.

The 997.1 is still a great car, but someone who isn't into cars may not want to address things like the IMS bearing on the early models. I drove about a dozen 997.1 and .2 models when I was car shopping a few years ago, but ultimately bought my low mileage '08 E93 M3.
