Bought my 2015 M4 in May from an approved Used dealer up north of England let's say to keep it fair (ongoing case open), because there were none of what I wanted in the south near me.

October 5th water leaks past seals and damages sensors giving me first a diff error then a chassis error then the speakers cut out.

I called a central service line on the 6th after the first diff error, explained, they booked me into my local dealer to sort. On the 21st - over 2 weeks later. I was like er the water will cause more damage, they were like that's the earliest appointment. And no courtesy car.

With the chassis error the next day I was like nah, called again, they booked me into a slightly further dealer on the 14th, and in it went. Still no courtesy car available.

They diagnosed the issue and quoted £2k to repair, wouldn't be covered under warranty as seals are wear and tear/perishable, but to call the guys I bought it from up north, which is kinda fair. I called them, they looked into it and a manager said no.

I have complained to bmw themselves, 48 hours and I should have an update apparently.

It may all get resolved, but it's not a great experience so far.

That’s rough. Any history of issues from the previous owner?

That sucks. Was it an independent used car dealer, or an actual dealership? A lot of times a dealership with provide a used warranty. Something like 1 year 12,000 miles. Mine did, but the Audi factory warranty was still in tact for a much longer period so irrelevant for me.

Actually main dealer! They gave me coffee and everything!

Not sure if I said the car has an approved warranty for another 7 months. It does.

I missed the warranty part of your post. I would have thought that seals would be covered provided there was no aftermarket tinkering.

Seals aren't covered, I checked the paperwork.

BMW aren't playing ball, gonna cost me 4k to fix. I'm f***ING livid. I'll complain to whoever I can first though.

Sorry to hear that Geoff, that's terrible! One of my siblings recently went through a similar situation with a certified pre-owned vehicle having loads of issues over the course of a year. Finally, a single letter sent from an attorney documenting everything and requesting immediate and due attention, and they finally fixed it. If you know an attorney you could ask, do not rule it out

That does suck. Now it’s cutting into your watch money.

Like Mediocre said you could check with an attorney, but if it’s specifically excluded in the warranty, that might not fly.

Yeah good idea, I'll threaten legal action eventually.

Last recourse before that is to say the car was sold to me faulty which it may well have been - I don't know if the seals have ever worked. There's a 6 month law for this in the uk so I have a month for that.

    Didn’t you have a quote for £2k?
