Probably a cultural thing. In your case it is probably doubled with the absence of an appropriate protein. In my opinion grits want animal proteins. Grits and grillades? Yum, yum. Shrimp and grits with a poached egg. In the list for best breakfast ever. No animal protein...no go.

Kinda like beans as far as culture goes. I think to most North Americans British baked beans are the most puzzlingly blandest thing. Possibly ever. But, as a Canadian I also despise North American style baked beans for being disgustingly sweet. Revolting, really. Southern BBQ or Caribbean is really where beans are at.

Got my Bahamian Goat pepper seeds and my Madame Jeanette's are on the way. Also just got a new seed sprouting system so the peppers, tomatoes, celeriac and radicchio will be getting started within days. I am trying to be really good about peppers and tomatoes this year. I swear I am only growing four varieties of hot pepper this year; Bahamian goats, Madame Jeanette's, the habanero I've been nursing through the winter and cayennes. I am also going to try to stick to two kinds of tomatoes; early girls and I am giving camparis a shot. I can hardly wait for spring!

First curry in months. Fancy, which isn't always a good thing (you just want greasy goodness) but this was great. Lovely and spicy. Name: 20210119_175207.jpg

Oh, the best Indian food EVER in Saskatoon was this place run by an elderly Kenyan born Indian couple. The British Army "brought" both their grandparents parents with them to Africa. For whatever reason they came to Canada. Pushing 80 years old she used to make this dish that required her to stand over the stove for 18 consecutive hours. They charged accordingly and it was worth every. Single. Penny.

If you are still in Miami, then I believe. Like eating in Atlanta, nothing is reasonably priced and you have to deal with the downtown crime.

Yeah, I'm on South Beach. Downtown is cool too. suspect I should be able to avoid the crime, but not the extortionate prices! That meal was 90 bucks.

Yikes. $90 is steep for curry.
