Yep. I'm 35 and of I don't do legs for a few weeks they ache like a mother for the next few days. If I keep it up weekly, no problems.

How's everybody's training and results going? I'm almost 100 miles into my 634.84 mile virtual run across Tennessee and just started my 500k Thruway run in NY. I don't want to run everyday so I'm running 12-13.1 miles 3x week and strength training the other 4 days with resistance bands. During the hockey season I was around 152 lbs because I'd get off the rails with eating more than I'd like. Down to 140lbs now which is my "fighting weight." Got my half marathon time to 1:28:52 which I'm pretty stoked about. Prior to lockdown I was strictly a 5ker. Now without hockey I enjoy the long runs as much as I can, I hate running that's how I got fast. I call them my sanity runs. Helps clear the head of stress.

Hope it's going well for everybody and training is helping mentally as well as physically and people are reaching their goals.

    Fitness thread

    I’ve now lost 9kg/ 20lb (corona 5, my efforts 4), 3 more to go
And I feel fitter than any time since before my cancer diagnosis 10 years ago :-)

It’s down to HIIT, daily cycling/ brisk walk and working on my allotment

The downside is that now none of my clothes fit, and we’re still locked down

It's the final countdown! PM me before they're all gone!

I'm running 3-4 miles 3 days a week and weight/HIIT training the other 4 days.

My gym just opened back up starting today, but I think I'll wait a little bit to see how it all works out.

Yeah when gyms reopen where I am idk how I'll get clearance from the house health manager lol. Same with hockey, I know there will be fear of me bringing something home. If I lived in a warm weather place is run year round but if this stretches to the winter idk what I'll do. Probably more plyo cardio stuff I guess.

    Thanks!
This is a nice illustration of where I’m at:
On the left, what I’ve done so far; on the right, my total goal

Picking up the dumbbells is a reminder of the weight I’m no longer lugging around with me on a daily basis
No wonder I’ve got so much energy :-)

    I do ultralight hiking
My pack is 13lb/ 5.9kg, so less than a dumbbell
So now I’ll be ahead of myself, even with my pack :-)

I know when pick up a weight and think that was on your body, it just seems crazy.

Between 1999-2009, I ran 14 marathons; PR of 3:27:54. In 2009 I had a major back surgery. I had an unknown defect at my L5-S1 vertebrae that lead to a sacral stress fracture (technically speaking, I had broken my back!), and that led to a spinal fusion with brackets and rods. My back was a farckin' mess. Surgery took over five hours. Since the surgery, my running has been very inconsistent and I never really felt like a runner. I just never got back into form. Until now. I started running about a month ago, 2-3 miles at at time 4-5 times a week. I look forward to my runs, I feel good while running, and I finally feel like a runner. And I have a great running partner in Sadie. I'm 50 so it takes a lot longer to recover, and the progression has been slooooooow, but I finally feel like a runner again. My racing days are behind me, and I'm ok with that, but I'm not abandoning my dream of returning to marathoning. It may be a pipe dream so we'll see how it goes. I really want to run Boston but that may be a bridge too far as I don't think I'll get fast enough to qualify. It'll be a few years down the road but I'm going to give it a go.
Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

After almost 3 months of not doing a whole lot of exercise (a bit of climbing, running, swimming, but definitely cancelled out by excessing boozing) I have now joined a gym in bodrum! Feels good, took my friend training - she's going to ache tomorrow. Squats, deads, calves, no messing around.
