    What are you drinking?

After a watch, the best gift is a fine whiskey . My lovely wife gave me this for my birthday.

    Has anyone tried this?

    No, but I want to.
I've tried several Balvenie, but not that cask/vintage.

PS: (Pedant mode) There's no 'e' in Scotch.
Some people have opinions - The rest of us have taste.

Not that one, but I'm quite fond of their Caribbean Cask version.

LoL! No, because it is unique and the flavor draws me in. Used to drink nothing by Lagavulin, but when the price went astronomical, turned to the aged in two woods. Then they went north too. Don't drink too much of it at all anymore. Mostly gin martinis.

I switched to Bourbon because Scotch is getting so expensive. Good thing I like it.

Well the jury is still out on this. It is VERY peaty with a smoked fish aroma. Probably not what the malter was looking for. However, this is in the bottle. In a glass, the kipper smell is less noticeable.

But the taste is actually quite mild and unremarkable; frankly a bit of a disappointment. It lacks the catch-your-throat pettiness of a Laphroaig or Ardbeg.

Certainly worth a try if you like Islay malts, depending on what it costs. Of course, I don’t know as it was a gift.

Edit: it runs about $100 a bottle based off the web. I don’t know what this is in £ anymore!
