After a watch, the best gift is a fine whiskey. My lovely wife gave me this for my birthday.
Has anyone tried this?

I've had their Doublewood and liked it quite well.
Not a fan of peat so no, but I like most of the Balvennies that I have tried

Well the jury is still out on this. It is VERY peaty with a smoked fish aroma. Probably not what the malter was looking for. However, this is in the bottle. In a glass, the kipper smell is less noticeable.
But the taste is actually quite mild and unremarkable; frankly a bit of a disappointment. It lacks the catch-your-throat pettiness of a Laphroaig or Ardbeg.
Certainly worth a try if you like Islay malts, depending on what it costs. Of course, I don’t know as it was a gift.
Edit: it runs about $100 a bottle based off the web. I don’t know what this is in £ anymore!
