This is kind of interesting. Ford Cobra DOHC V8 power so there is a source for powertrain parts.

I don't know why you believe those Porsches are any less electronic than the Jaguar? The Supercharged V6 F Types are very solid and can be boosted up very reliably an extra 150-200hp. You need to go drive one though. The cabin is very tight and does not even have room to recline a seat much if any. That is why mine went. That's why I kept the XK8, plus the XK is built to cruise in luxury. It will soak up a railroad track at 70 where the F Types with destroy the chin spoiler at about 35.

A mid-90s anything will have a lot less tech than any modern car, you know?
As for driving the F-Type, yeah, definitely. I wouldn't buy any car without driving it first. Comfort isn't too much of an issue--it's meant to be a sports car and I drive a Z4, which is notorious for having a stiff ride (though it's much improved since I ditched my RFTs). Almost every car feels comfortable to me! And big. The F-Type has an extra inch of legroom and 4 extra inches of shoulder room than my Z4. It's also 15" longer and 5.7" wider, but has a smaller trunk than my Z4, but I guess that's a different complaint.
15". Holy hell, that's a big car.

I looked at the Jags when I sold my ZL1 convertible in Feb and was looking for a more daily driver-able replacement. I ended up with an 18k mile 2008 E93 M3 6spd. I don't know that one is more reliable than the other, but an NA V8 that revs to 8200+ rpm lured me more than the sexy Jag styling.
