Yes but it's revving up, will emmisions cause that?
He also didn't say if only revs up once, or does it do it constantly. Is it hunting?
Remember, my "new" car is 20 years old.![]()

Engine light not on. Weird over Revving happens when I accelerate any more than granny-gently. It's manual and gear change fine etc, just annoying revving. It revs up, stays there for a sec, then drops down to normal, rinse and repeat unless I drive really gently. Might try a reader for £20.

Would clutch slip spark a warning light?
Just finished checking the vehicles vitals for the upcoming cold weather. All's that's left is to top off the air in the tires. Wish I still had a compressor.

One of the best purchases I ever made in this day and age of TPMS. Years back I bought a little one so I could top off tires in the (relative) warmth of my garage during the winter. Mine is small, cheap and has a silly name (Slime) but has worked great for years. Doesn’t take up any more space than a large shoebox.

Mine is 12v powered with a long enough cable from the fag lighter to do all 4 tyres. The size of a very small shoebox.

Sounds like your clutch is slipping. How many miles are on the car?
If it is the clutch, when you have it replaced, have the shop remove the Clutch Delay Valve. That's usually the culprit in premature clutch wear in BMWs. I had mine removed when my clutch had to be done--after around 62,000 miles. My Jetta, by comparison, had 80,000 miles and was used to teach two people how to drive stick and never had any clutch slippage.
