I've always liked them too (at least the looks) but when I test drove one, something just didn't feel right with it. I'm so glad I opted for the Miata, even though it's much less convenient... I was looking into the Mini because it was one of the cars I knew still had a manual trans (aka a clutch pedal)...but it auto blipped and made a fake exhaust note sound...was kind of put off by both of those things...I didn't realize so many cars still had a MT option from that list...
Looking back, I'm so glad I didn't get the Mini... Love, love, love my Miata. I plan to keep it stock for now, with the exception of a sportier exhaust...which I have but have not installed it yet.
I like it so much, Im seriously considering a second one...but the original NA version...so that would make 3 rear wheel drive two seaters, which would be ridiculous. Just saw a pristine white one with a tan top the other day...it made me do a double take it was so pretty.

Front drive can be really fun sometimes, but it has limitations. It does much better with lower power and lower weight, and since cars weigh the moon now, fewer FWD cars are good now. For me, I think I'm pretty much always going to be a RWD and AWD guy; if I have room for a third car, then I might consider a FWD car at that point. Unless I move somewhere it doesn't snow, then I could do FWD instead of AWD.

The exhaust I purchased was from Goodwin Racing...it's the Race exhaust, probably their loudest...but in sound clips online, it's the one that had a nice vintage roadster sound to me. Another one i like even better, but can't seem to find here int he states is from BBR (in the UK).
I honestly don't want something too loud in a daily driver, but the note is important to me. I'm sure it will be quiet compared to my Lotus exhaust setup (with no cat).
So far no plans for intake, although I won't rule that out in the future... I may decide to do a simple tune...likely the popular Open Flash tuning.
