Thread: The cars and bikes thread!

The shop struggled with the Superwagon. Tire mount and balance was spot on, the alignment was where they were off.

Everything is done, still ended up with -1.4° camber up front. I'll take it to a race shop, it seems like most shops here can't get custom alignments done right.

Big fan of the new Michelins, much stickier than the Continental DW.

I realize size sometimes limits what tires you buy. I found the Michelin’s and Bridgestone excellent in the dry and unpredictable boarding on scary in the typical hard rains we get here. I preferred the Pirelli and Dunlops much better all around.

I hope the Michelins are at least acceptable in the wet.

That was one of the things the Contis did very well - rain performance was excellent. I ran the Conti DW summers on my M5 and the V wagon with great results - cost/performance was excellent. In spite of my complaints about the lack of traction with them, I was able to clock a 4.0s 0-60 using them on the wagon in the dry. I haven't measured performance with the Pilot Sports yet, but a few WOT blasts in second gear yesterday were promising.

Anyone hand-wash their car? I recently discovered water sheeting - life changing stuff! https://youtu.be/PNiJ4TL1BP8?t=02m30s

Then it rained anyway, which is fine.

It’s mostly the rain that cleans my car, but I’ll hand it over to the blokes in the supermarket car park two or three times a year.

I generally use Starbrite Hull Polish

Hull polish I used on boats. It has Teflon, so once it's applied, nothing sticks! Shiney as hell, too.
It's a polish, not a cleaner so you have to do a thorough job of cleaning before hand.

I’ve been doing this for years. I have the filter for the rinse water. I really don’t touch the car. The foam canon and the pressure washer after the wheels have been cleaned get all the dirt off. Then a spray with a no spot sheeting agent and rinse with the filtered water. I blow out the mirrors, grill wheels, trim and door jambs with the high velocity air blower. I do wipe the glass with a Chamois, but otherwise nothing touches the car.
