M-B will cease US sales of their Smart Car brand after the 2019 year sells out. They went from a high of 24,622 units in '08 down to 1276 units for 2018.
They will carry on world-wide sales and have entered into a agreement with Geeley (China) to move the factory there in 2022.

Smart are actually ceasing ICE builds worldwide ! and moving to electric only from later this year !

I've got my last petrol engined one , I intend to make it last, cos the electric version doesn't have the range I need, nor does it have the infrastructure yet, nor can I afford the silly price for one, nor do I want a battery that will fail..

Yes, the range on the electrics is horrible. Maybe the reason to drop them in the US.
Add the fact that the production and disposal of the batteries does more environmental damage than a good diesel will over it's lifetime kind of makes them pointless.

That’s almost exactly 100,000 more than mine.

I wouldn’t normally know my mileage, but I had to check it today when renewing my service plan. At the same time, I found that my average mileage is 4,000. That’s retirement for you...

Yes, now that I'm retired, I fill up every 4 to 5 weeks. Between 1/4 to 1/2 tank.

I do, a bit. It’s daily commuting and business miles that rack up the mileage.
