Pineapple, mango, and watermelon are basically the best fruits. Good choices.

The remains. Baked scallops and shrimp. Topped with Ritz cracker crumbs, salt, black pepper, garlic, lots of butter, lemon juice, and vermouth. Served over angel hair pasta. Should have mixed some good parm in but I forgot to pick it up at the store.
That sounds good. Like something you whip up from what was sitting in the cupboard and it turns out really tasty.

Fresh haul of BB’s from the front garden. BB pancakes are a given.

Ugh, I’m so sick of bad food. It’s hard to be a shut in and have good food delivered. Ordered barbecue tonight and while the smoked wings and brisket were pretty good, the ribs were awful. Way too much vinegar.

From now on, I’m just going to go to restaurants when I want to eat. There’s a great poke place that delivers, but my brother can be weird about having raw fish delivered, especially when it’s hot outside. I’d rather eat poke and onigiri any day over ribs and brisket, I must be honest.

Hm. Would rather not deal with fruit at all. Greens? I can deal with. Fruit only if in combo with sweet. Peaches in sugar. Strawberries in sugar. Etc.

While I agree with the rule in general, I also have a playful habit of trying to take on tough projects. Home winemaking was one of them, for ten years, on a large scale. A ton of grapes annually, 6 oak half-barrels for aging, crush and bottling parties with many good friends. I stopped in 2011 because we had two cool summers in a row and the grapes weren't ripening, but we still have 30+ cases aging in the basement and it didn't suck!

I guess it's similar to the dozen fruit trees in the garden. When the squirrels let us keep enough, we have the good problem of inundation, and the dehydrator becomes an important tool. The work far outpaces the sense of reward, unless you count the emotional payoff of growing something from scratch, and tasting your own effort in daily meals. You can't exactly buy that.

(Fava beans on the other hand... maybe I'm done with that after a few years. OMG those are a lot of work!)
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Mangos and papaya are too cloyingly sweet. And melons...they're good for target practice. Always impressive with a 12ga or magnum.

I love most berries and dark fruits.

I don't like sweet stuff. It even annoys me to go to a bakery for a scone or turnover and find that they all have that sugary stuff drizzled all over them.

You should be here! Golden Corral Buffet is considered fine dining. People travel 30+ miles just eat there.
The food in middle Tenn is mediocre, at best. Even at grocery stores. Absolutely no choice or variety.

Most private restaurants are the standard "meat and three" and they all always have the same boring things.

I'm actually thinking of moving back to Florida for 2 reasons, no winter and better food!

Wow. Golden Corral has passable food, but considered fine dining!? I really should be thankful then.

What it comes down to is that I just need to cook more. It's not like I don't enjoy it sometimes, I'm just so busy that cooking feels like a hassle.

I've always enjoyed cooking. When I was on boats I was chief cook and bottle washer in addition to being captain.
