I liked triple d because of the food, not guy fierri. He didn't bother me - clearly a bit doucey but harmless.

Smoked meats are the absolute best. For example, you can take a once-a-year-for-a-reason turkey and smoke it instead of drying it out in an oven, and it turns into a delicious bird.

Fieri was a brilliant marketing idea for the Food Network. He attracted a whole new audience. Before that regular guys didn't watch it much, but his douchey mediocrity was so different from the typical chefs featured on the network.

He was the Food Network's equivalent of this for the average young male.

Funny thing is that I avoided Triple D for years because of him. Finally, my brother had episodes of it on now and then and I decided that seeing the small restaurants outweighed his doucheness.

Funny you should say that. I smoked the Thanksgiving turkey last year and I'll never do it any other way again. So juicy and flavorful.

A quick sear over a hickory fire for these pork shoulder steaks.

I prepped a couple of pounds of Anaheim peppers, and the same amount of tomatillos yesterday. The pork got cubed and put into a pot with those things and many more. A couple hours later Green Chile pork stew on polenta. Green chile pork stew is a German American version of chile verde and I prefer it to chile verde.

My brother and I have hosted Thanksgiving most of the last few years and we always get a smoked turkey. My mom is planning on hosting next year, and I got disappointed. But she is fine with us getting a smoked turkey. Easier than roasting one! I honestly can’t imagine eating turkey any other way.
