Using a dusted wood peel would probably do a better job of launching and prevent distortion. In the end however, what it looks like is irrelevant.

I was in an artisanal pizza place and saw them throwing polenta on the stick thing - peel.
(I’d always thought that what came on the bottom of pizzas was a sort of pizza dust)

Don’t know if they have them there but you can always use grits to keep it from sticking.
