When I bought mine, I got the extended warranty, which goes an extra two years for a total of five. When I asked how many additional miles you got with the extended warranty, they told me "unlimited." The reason is the average AM owner apparently puts around 3000 miles per year on their car, so mileage was deemed irrelevant.

At my current pace, I would have to own the car for over ten years before needing a new clutch. Same thing with tires--they may be expensive, but it would be at most one new set every 5-7 years given the amount of mileage I put on the car.

If I had to venture a guess, I’d say it’s more fun than any modern Ferrari.

Reliability generally seems to be average to above average, certainly not below. Servicing isn't cheap, but not in the Lambo category--the local dealer here charges $1300 for a regular annual service, which isn't much more than oil change and other similar standard stuff. I suspect parts will be quite expensive, but whether they're significantly more than, say, genuine Porsche parts, I couldn't say.

There's a fair amount of depreciation, however the wild card for Vantages is that there's a brand new one out that looks very different from the old. Many don't like the looks of it, and even though it has much higher performance, it does it with a turbo rather than the old naturally aspirated V-8 or 12. So it's possible the previous generation might hold more of their value.

It's hard to find the manual versions here in the States, and the alternative is an automated sequential manual, which I have. In the newer cars with the second version of it, it's not so bad as long as you keep the car in sport mode and use the paddles. Doesn't work well in "drive" mode and I never use it.

There's an AM forum at 6speedonline that's pretty good and has lots of folks from the U.K. on it--if you're serious, I'd look around there.
Your car with the proper transmission is absolutely still a car I’d buy and is near the top of my list.

Buy one with 45k on the clock. Should be fine.

I look forward to motoring over to Sussex to see it.

Although to some extent, tyres deteriorate doing nothing. I’ve had to replace a few that had good tread depth, but also had cracking on the walls.

Could be, I’ve never driven a Ferrari, but I’ve driven a McLaren 650, and I know what you mean—rather artificial feel, although blindingly capable.

I do like the fact that the Aston has a naturally aspirated engine, non-electronic steering, and minimal electronic nannies.

Go on then - you can have any car for free with insurance, fuel and servicing for life and you can't sell it, in addition to what you currently have. And if you don't have a car we'll chuck in a sensible runaround golf or something practical like that for free.

    Go.

    Toyota Land Cruiser.

I’d be tempted by a luxury alternative but would be too embarrassed to have it on my drive. At least with a Land Cruiser people might think you do something muddy for a living.
