    I could never get used to the way shaft drive reacted at WOT. It made for a reasonable hole shot but the bike always felt unstable. I prefer to wheelie or spin and just manage it with the clutch.

    My only shaft drive bike was a 1985 Kawasaki ZL900 Eliminator (stolen internet picture and video).

    I doubt it needs more. I remember the Honda Valkyrie which was a cruiser version with a Goldwing engine. It only had a 4 or 5 speed, but you could start off in 3rd gear with hardly any feathering of the clutch. It could have easily got away with a two speed. With that much HP and torque 1st gear would be all you need to about 150mph. I more question the top speed.
