i'm guessing maybe Conte might not see the week out

i'm reminded today that it is 60yrs anniv of the Munich disaster - an old friend of mine was a journalist on the plane -he survived the crash and actually pulled two others out of it ! he always goes missing on Feb 6th and gets hammered !

It sure looks like Conte gave the finger to the Chelsea board much like Deeney gave the finger to... who was he giving it to, anyway? Another window without much in the way of reinforcements and more injured players who are no help, so he selects an 11 with a bunch of players who are badly out of form (or have never been in it) and shows the consequences. Not that Chelsea don't have the talent to still beat Watford, but with so many holes up front and in back, it would take an inspired performance to do so. Not going to happen with the state of the team right now. I don't know if Conte will see out the week or the season, but he sure seems to be daring the board to sack him. That will make the last 6 PL winning managers gone from their jobs within two years.

I can't say I'm too excited about the prospect of Luis Enrique coming in either. He was good with a loaded squad at Barca, but was also crap at Roma. It won't matter much until the board figure out what the hell they're doing in the transfer market. Every player they have sold in the last year has been replaced with someone far worse on the pitch, and often times not even any cheaper than the guy they already had. Still feeling the pain of Jose shipping off so many quality young players who are now the stars of the league for other teams.

Let’s not forget that Watford were hardly at full-strength.

Heurelho Gomes, Younes Kaboul, Kiki Femenia, Nathaniel Chalobah and Tom Cleverley would all have been playing if fit, and deputies Will Hughes, Craig Cathcart, Miguel Britos and Didier Ndong were also unavailable.

Watford played the only formation that allowed them to get a fit 11 onto the pitch - with a misfiring striker who hasn’t been guaranteed a start all season.

And that striker might now find himself suspended - again...

Watford will do well to hang on to these two at the end of the season.

I haven’t watched Doucoure closely this season, but Richarlison has absolutely impressed.

Thanks to the referees conspiring to give Spurs a point last week and Arsenal unable to score or defend, Spurs are now in an unearned position ahead of Liverpool on the table.

Oh how Tim Krul has fallen. Now he’s the backup at Brighton? What happened to him? When I watched Krul at Newcastle, frankly, I always thought he was destined for bigger things than Newcastle. That certainly hasn’t been the case.

He never looked the same after one of his injuries. I think it was a knee.

That’s a shame. You hate to see careers affected by injury like that.
