All electrics are becoming more popular here in the US, but have one fatal flaw--you can't go more than a couple of hundred miles without recharging, which is still a far lengthier process than for gasoline or hybrid vehicles. Not as big an issue in Europe, but over here people think nothing of taking a 400 or 500 mile trip. That requires charging infrastructure and a willingness to plan your trip around it. As a commuter car, though, very useable.
