Quick musing about food. Why are the Italians so good at so many types of foods (in this case, I'm now transformed by my discovery of Ricciarelli cookies), but so bad at soups? Minestrone? Italian wedding soup? Come on, you guys invented pasta, you can do better than that.

Still WAY too hot to cook indoors, so everything was cooked on fire. 38 C with humidex, that's over 100 F.
Butter poached Old Bay cod, but the star really was the polenta with saffron, chile, baby squash and tomato ragu. That was fantastic.
