Read my latest IWL blog entry! An Ode To Rule Breaking
We just started the process to get classic car status for our XK8. We're going to do it in Pennsylvania and keep it for the time being at my Dad's house there. He has a lot of garage space, and PA grant's classic car status at 15 years. We did not feel we wanted to sell it low given it only has 37,000 miles on it and is in perfect mechanical condition (meaning we did a lot of work even with the low miles to get it to that).
You have to love the paint on Jaguars if you keep them well.
Cheers,
Michael

So about a week ago I started to look at something Raza said about the base Jaguar F Type. I went a few times to try out the base and S levels in both automatic and stick (RWD only). The stick was ruled out quickly in both. If you drove the two back to back you would know what I mean. Aside from drivability, the Auto/manual is noticeably faster(quicker)and the fuel economy is four or five MPG better with the auto(It does matter). Put it in Dynamic mode and manually shift it and it is a missile. The super charged sixes are much more balanced than the eight and are very telepathic in the steering. For a few $100 dollars you can get the SC pulley and ECU programing to better the S as far as HP. The S brakes and available brake option packages really are not needed for the street unless your doing something marginally stupid. The big plus for me is the SC V6 with the active noise cancelation on passes muster with the wife (which the V8 just cannot). So after a few more test drives I decided to take a trade offer (always nice to get a new car and money in the Bank) for a loaded 2016 F type premium for my 2015 F Type R. So now we have the great pumpkin(Already has the SC and ECU Mods). So In a way I kind of listened to Raza. Partly. I never though I would say that.![]()

Thanks. We really like this one. Hard to believe it is over 15 years old?. They need to return to something closer to this body style with the five square feet of wood in the dash. The seat are not for hard corning though, since you sit on them not in them. The ride over RR tracks is fantastic.

I just had to convince myself that I would not regret giving up the V8 version for the V6. The six has its day to day advantages over the eight, except for raw acceleration. I did not miss it on my blast down the highway going to PT this morning. I loved the white/red I had, but this orange with the high end power sports seats in black with the orange stitching are nicer.
I also tried a very loaded Boxster, and the Maserati coupe. Neither is really and equal to the F Type. The Boxsters six speed manual was nice, but it the same issue with the Auto/PDK being superior in every measurable way. The Maserati has an amazing engine, but it's not as potent as the Ftype R SC V8. The seats do not fit me. You need to be a linebacker to fit in those.
