How to adjust rubber strap on Superocean?

My friend wants to shorten his rubber strap. It's obvious you have to cut it but how do you disconnect the strap from the deployment (diver extension)?

There should be a push release on the springbar that holds it in place.

    Thanks Broker
It's not obvious how to access the springbar inside the sliding extension part of the deployment.

You flip the deployant over and there is a springbar. Use a springbar tool to remove that springbar. Then you can cut to size and put the springbar in the new hole. Then you reinstall.
