    Day With the Grandkids

    Usually we see my daughter's family on the weekend but today was flu shot day. We got our flu shots first thing and then hung around to babysit our youngest grandchild while the older two went in for their shots. Then my daughter took in the youngest one while we drove the older two over to Walmart for a preview of the Christmas toy department. (Big mistake.)
    Afterwards our daughter joined us with the baby and we had a gourmet lunch at McDonald's in Walmart. Turns out the littlest one got 3 shots - two boosters and the flu shot. Not her best day at the age of 1.
    Then we brought the kids out to Almonte where they played with their new toys (courtesy of our Walmart visit.) Then my wife took them down to throw some stones into the river at the falls, they had pizza for supper and a game of Super Mario checkers where grandpa had to advise both sides and hopefully end them up in a draw. They hate to lose at the age of 5 and 4. Great day but it sure cuts into my forum time.

    Not to compress time or anything but I hope I'm around to see my older granddaughter start butting heads with my daughter. They are two peas in a pod.

    Reading this makes me wish my kids had more interactive grandparents . My parents are late 70's and visit once a year. My wife's parents ....... will less said soonest mended .
    Just keep being a grandad , your presence is more important than your presents .
