Looks like Jose Fonte put in a transfer request for this window. How much do you think Celtic is going to have to pay for him? #deludedbrendan

Anyone see FIFA's ridiculously stupid new rule ideas?

I like the idea of getting rid of draws for a penalty shootout. I think the winner should get two points and the loser should get one. I think hockey is that way.
Everything else is dumb. No offside?

Thanks for the link. The abolition of offside would be daft in the extreme. At one time there was no offside rule and it was introduced as a necessary improvement. The offside rule is fundamental to the game.
That hasn't been proposed, has it? Anyway, I like draws. Any alternative introduces artificiality. Penalties and shoot-outs are OK in cup competitions that might otherwise run forever, but it would cheapen league games. Sometimes there is no winner in a game of football and a draw is the just and natural result.
I can't believe that getting rid of offsides would be considered. I used to coach in a small youth league with no offsides until U10. Invariably we would face teams who would send one or two forwards to hang around our penalty area & they would try to launch long balls to them. I would never allow my team to play this way, and we did lose some games because of it. Most parents were understanding and knew it was senseless to teach a method of play that would be disallowed as the boys grew older.
I do like the idea of sin bins, though. We've all seen many fouls that would have been normally been called but the ref did not want to send off a player sitting on a yellow. A temporary ejection would give some middle ground to the officials without permanently changing the course of the match like a red card does.
the way we are going i will settle for a point against Spurs -Lpool fluffed a big chance to make space today - the struggling teams always surprise you though
