no mean what link as you go to the page then click on the option and then down load the exe then install from that so should work ? but don't think it automatic deletes the exe file think it stays there to you remove it ?

I go to the Microsoft official page each time I download it. 15 times and fails every time. It worked on my tiny 10" tablet cos that was brand new when I installed it but something on my pc is corrupted and stops it installing properly

hmmm could possibly be that my dad has his note book we got him last year ..then he had an old laptop that just got to heavy and big to used with his arthritis so he mainly uses the little one but just some times it is easy for him to still use the big one for some things .. that would not take ten keep crashing can't think what it was on so I tried to update it to 8 I think it was then 10 and I got it working so could be the system needs to be updated twice to 8 then 10

It shouldn't need 8 first tho. It's supposed to be compatible. Can't be bothered anyway. I only use the pc for Internet browsing and the odd bit of printing lol

but if the system has got corrupted or virus on there putting 8 on would correct or get rid of anything that should not be there as it would re-write the system commands so should remove what ever is blocking it ...

as if you don't mircosoft have stated that they will not be doing patches or security updates on 7 or 8 and so that could potentially leave your system open for attack

What I need is a fresh install from a cd rom to wipe the hard drive. Prob with the upgrade is it uses a lot of the current win7/8 software. And I ain't buying it. Will prob upgrade to a decent laptop this year and that'll have 10 on already so may as well wait now

did you not make a boot up disc when first bought to reinstall it to the point install so that would correct it might have an old copy of windows eight but where ..thats a question you could do a system re-stall that is take of any files you want then system re-stall it back to factory setting and it will redo the systems and it will correct faults ...

but before then you can go to proprieties so right click on my computer and the properties box will pop up at the top of the box there are things like security ..previous versions /tool ...

so click on tools the tool one is a error checking and it will scan the drive and tell you and there is also one that will on start up scan and check your whole system and correct anything it needs to while doing it just can't think where it is now ..
