I can see it growing from the window.
Happy New Year!
I've heard many good things about the new crop of English sparkling wine producers. Tipped to be the new hot region.
How is it?

It's good. It's won a couple of international awards.
Ideally, I like biscuity champagne, and this is more fruity - but refined and very drinkable.

Meant to post this a while ago (thought I already did actually).
Had a cocktail contest on NYE and this was my entry. I lost. It turned out great, just not a crowd pleaser.
It is equal parts peated scotch (used Caol Ila 12), strong black tea, and a syrup I made by reducing water and cane sugar with juniper berries, and I put fresh rosemary in it while it cooled (then removed it). The lollies are a simple candy I made of white sugar and maple syrup, formed (terribly) over a few fresh rosemary leaves. Stirring the drink with the candy sweetened it a little over time.
Way too much work to have on any regular basis (plus I generally dislike mixing scotch with anything other than stomach lining) but I was quite happy with it. I got the result I wanted, something more mature and earthy. The juniper, rosemary, and maple all played nice with the smokey scotch. It swas a nice amber colour, but so was the candy and for presentation it could have used some kind of garnish if for no other reason than to deepen the pallette. Wandering Woods is the working title.
It is now my duty to completely drain you.

Wow, that picture sucks.
In my defence, it was a cocktail contest with a dozen entries, and I was not first... at least I remembered to take a snap.

In a glass with ice and a bit of soda water. Herbs sourced from our own coastal mountains. Very nice, but I think I like Hendricks best.
Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Nice! I've made scotch, beer, sweet black tea, lime and mint cocktails before - good combo.

Interesting. I have their Dry Rye Gin. Still trying to figure out if I like it in martinis or not. Seems to be more of a mixed drink gin.
Cheers!

I'd love to donate blood but I did it once and passed out 4 times like a little girl so I'm struck off.
