Overcooked the f***ing steak. Idiot. Still tasty though - home made white wine and cream sauce.

When steak goes in stuff like pasta or sandwiches, the level of doneness is less important.

We don't really do new year's eve. At least not the meet ppl, leave the house, party type new year's. Instead we always stay in and cook all day. Then eat and drink champagne, just me and the wife. This year we went very traditional.

    Lobster soup as a starter

Then Chateaubriand with baked onion, onion rings, pommes duchess, roasted bone marrow and red wine sauce.

Dessert was hazelnut and caramel tuille, chocolate mousse, vanilla pannacotta, orange wedges marinated in Grand marnier and orange jelly.

Now I feel like a slightly drunk pot belly pig sipping champagne in the sofa. Good times!

Food we brought to a NY day party. Basque-style bacalao (salt cod) spread, the red side has paprika and dried pasilla pepper powder to give it a bit of spice. Homemade sourdough rye for spreading. Prosciutto wrapped prunes ready for the broiler.

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Funny how over the winter months wouldn't touch salads with a barge pole, then over the Chrissy/New year hols. almost daily...

Made a large batch of boeuf noir. I didn't have any burgundy handy so in went the the Pinot.
It's passable, but I wouldn't recommend it for guests.
