just thinking as you said the older models do seem better had two new one's that I had to mess around with to get to work out the box but got some beat up 80's one's that are so strong you could drive a tank over them and they would still work I remember some one saying that they was made to be able to quick change parts so you could take two broken one's and make a working one out them they do seem to last better

i only have one amphibian as a generous gift from a forum member... the only thing that keep me away from getting more is they are not available here in my country..

give it time in the uk at one point it was costly and hard to get but now it is a lot easier so as I said give it time and it might happen in your country to

I'm sure you've done so, but have you checked on buying Vostoks from eBay? Sellers like Zenitar seem to ship most everywhere, though I don't know about import duties for you...
Now since i have 2 Vostok that i bought used from IWL member.. i', looking forward to add more in the future, especially the SE with solid stainless case..
Vostok have different charm from Japanese tool watch but i really like these russian..
