Absolutely. He should be wanting to test himself against the best. He'll retire a wealthy man either way.

Richer now. My brother theorizes that a lack of a "Hall of Fame" for soccer players means that many care less about their legacy and more about money. I'm not sure it's the strongest correlation, but it may have some influence.

Arsenal's doing by not trying to extend their lead in the first half and capitulating early in the second.
we didn't come back ! -we just typically didn't get going till we got on terms -after that we bossed the game -de Bruyne is a very special player that cannot be compared with Aguero and what both contribute in their different ways - lets see how Everton spoil Lpool party tomorrow

Unfortunately, I'll be taking a final during the match, so I'll have to come home and watch it. Should be a crazy match.

I'm rather glad we don't have a Hall of Fame for football. They've always struck me as a bit tacky and undignified. Although having said that, today we've had the annual BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which isn't a million miles removed...

Tacky and undignified to recognizes the great players of the game over the years?

Well, it's a concept we don't really have in Europe (unless someone corrects me on that), so we see Halls of Fame for professional wrestlers and so on. Googling 'Hall of Fame' comes up with Halls of Fame for adult movie stars and breeds of dogs. Also, the accent on 'fame' seems a bit shallow. So yes, it looks a bit razzle dazzle and superficial. The phrase just doesn't cross the water that well.
I'm sure 'Order of the British Empire' doesn't cross the water that well either.

Hall of fame is just a term used for a body that recognizes the top players of a sport (or music, there's a rock and roll hall of fame too). Baseball, football, hockey, et al have halls of fame.

I know, but it seems a devalued term to me, and 'fame' just strikes the wrong notes. It doesn't sound right for European football.

Call it the "tome of legends" then; something that will appease the dusty, crusty, uptight English sensibilities
. But a place where the greats are celebrated and something matters more than the paychecks the players cash.
