Sipping a Gluten-Free Witbier tonight from a local brewery in Seattle. It's quite good.

Gin martini, well, maybe not. Anyone out there make your own gin by steeping botanicals in vodka? I just did that and the result is interesting if not good.

    Cheers!

Nope. Considering how much I love booze it's odd that I've never made my own.

I had a gin the other day that way so floral though it was almost unpleasant. Then I thought how easy it would be to add flavouring to a gin and sell it as a new type. It's so trendy at the moment people would buy it.

Yes, I was making absinthe for about ten years, starting with hi-proof derived from making a second wine after the first ferment. I tried gin once, and put a bit too much juniper in it. It created a fascinating crystalline sort of refraction inside the hi-proof. Tasted OK if a bit astringent.

absinthe plus watch, a few years ago...

Too many watches, not enough wrists.

Still have a couple of bottles left of this, for special occasions, like when both kids are home for a holiday. The older one is interested in wines, plus this one is from the year she was born!

Mojito. Half a tray of ice, 4 shots of rum, a whole lime and 4 teaspoons of sugar! Could still be sweeter. Effort, and not healthy.
