I have thought about it, but I'm more comfortable with German cars and I don't have kids to take to soccer practice. The MDX and Lexus RX have way too big a whiff of suburban mom about them.

What about the Volvo XC90? My thought is all SUVs by definition suck donkey balls to drive (unless you are going off-roading) so might as well get a reliable one.

Also the F-Pace is literally the worst thing ever. A Jag SUV.

The obvious answer is STi though.

The bus if you're still learning
I don't see Jaguar on this list? Now I use to have a Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet, and I'm still set on getting a Z06 as a Christmas present.
    Cheers,

    Michael

Tell everyone you saw it on IWL!

    Or Aston Martin.

Or Subaru. Patent guys are a little different though.

Everyone we know that has a Subaru loves them. We got an Outback a few months ago as the family hauler (otherwise known as my car) and it's been great.

    There's no STI hatch anymore.

But I'm only slightly considering the XC90, and the reason I am hesitant is because of the Chinese ownership. If it were still under Ford, I would be fine, but I worry about the things I've seen from Chinese cars ending up in a $50,000 Volvo. Paying through the nose for the privilege of dying in a horrific crash that would have been survivable in any other car.
