Only if you go and pick those parts up at the other manufacturer(s)...... and then only if they choose to sell them at a reasonable price in the first place.....
Some parts (whichever the manufacturer) are stupid o'price..
My mum's new look Beetle needed a passengers electric door lock assembly earlier this year (same as the golf and quite a few other models) , copies from china , from £20 to £50, genuine article £160 !
You'd think being for so many models (the applicable list on ebay was huge) ti would have been cheap , but perhaps a contributory factor to the high genuine price was actually due to so many copies flooding the market.
My favorite was my Lotus--it used a standard Toyota oil filter. If you bought the "Lotus version", totally identical to the Toyota part, it was three times the price.

It's probably smartest to just lease something with a warranty. Ugh. Automatic transmissions suck.

Yeah, looking to add something with AWD and some practicality to the fleet. Might do it next year when I have a job, might do it now when the SUVs are soft in the market. My brother and I have talked about it, with a couple of options. One would be to buy now, and then when I start working again, I'd take over or we'd split payments, the other would be for him to replace his car with a more practical sport sedan and then I would just buy an SUV for myself when I'm working. Can't do another winter on Uber rides; no idea where I'll be working, and I can't guarantee that relying on Uber for winter transportation will be very good if I'm at a firm that's not close to me. Besides, Uber can be unreliable at times, as the DNC proved.
I'm currently looking at the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Audi Q3 and Q5, BMW X3, and maybe the Volkswagen Tiguan (though the current model is overdue for a replacement that won't come until the middle of next year). The Cayenne thing was a lark, it won't happen now, not while I'll be sharing it with my brother. He's a bit afraid of used cars (and used Cayennes, I can understand) and he, at this point, basically refuses to learn how to drive stick.

Wouldn't the Macan be the Porsche equivalent to the others you've listed? If you don't know where you'll be working, do you know you'll need AWD? Unless you just mean you don't know where in the state.

I just don't know the physical location, but I'm not going to leave my area; Philadelphia is home. Worst case, I'm taking a train to New York, and even then, an SUV will still come in handy. I'm planning on taking the bar in PA and NJ, and eventually DE.
Macan is just too expensive. It starts $7,000 more than the Q5 2.0T and $10,000 more than the Discovery Sport. And being a Porsche, the $47,000 base price includes the engine and all the air that comes inside of the cabin and that's about it. By the time they're comparably equipped, I wouldn't be surprised to see a difference of $15,000-20,000 over those cars. Add one option to the basic Macan and it's already at the price of a loaded SQ5. Porsches aren't cars you buy on a budget.

Not true, pretty sure that tires of some sort are also standard.. You're right, though, they'll never be cheap.
